Ivy Corps mentors will provide children of fallen service members and veterans with one-on-one advice on everything from preparing the FAFSA to writing college entrance essays to developing a list of target schools.
Returning veterans are often faced with the daunting reality that they are unprepared for life outside of the military. Operation Opportunity’s Warrior-Scholar Project seeks not only to train former military personnel in the skills required for success in the college classroom, but we also aim to prepare them for the changed social circumstances, and how they can be a valuable addition to the classroom.
Operation Opportunity’s Gold Star Scholars Project will provide children of fallen service members with top-quality, personalized college preparatory services, free of charge. The Gold Star Scholars Project reflects our belief that when our nation’s service members make the ultimate sacrifice, we have the responsibility to make sure that their children are not left behind. Amidst the grief and stress from losing a parent in combat, the college application process can seem overwhelming. The Gold Star Scholars Project seeks to ensure that these students have the greatest possible opportunity to pursue their dreams.
Operation Opportunity will provide assistance with the college application, admission, and assimilation process to both children of fallen service members and returning veterans. Arming these students with information and establishing the proper communication channels and support networks are key to ensure these students
